Launching the Caratlane Enigma collection

We are thrilled to launch Enigma, our new collection of diamond jewellery. The creations here are all about the glamour of diamonds, with little or no visible gold. The motivator for this collection was that we wanted to create casual jewellery that is accessible across any budget, but doesn’t compromise on the dazzle quotient of diamonds. The first thing you will notice about any Enigma design is the seamless stack of diamonds with no visible gold between each stone. This creates the beautiful effect of one large diamond instead of several smaller ones. No intruding metal means that light can travel through the entire stack of diamonds, dissolving lines of separation and creating one gorgeous, dazzling array.

In terms of aesthetics, this style has clean, crisp lines, and a serene, radiant look that exudes sophistication and class. Some are brilliant for soirees and formal occasions, while others are great as casual everyday diamond jewellery, but with a much more oomph. The collection has designs to go with and western outfits, though most are quite versatile and can be worn with just about anything. In terms of value, the Enigma style conjures up the visual effect of a large diamond using tightly set smaller diamonds. Directly, this means you get the look of a larger solitaire (a single diamond) for a considerably lower price, because the larger the diamond, the higher its cost.

For example in our classic enigma square (seen in the diamond rings above), four princess-cut diamonds are invisibly set in a square and appear to the casual eye like a larger princess-cut solitaire. If you are a value hunter with the budget for casual diamond jewellery, this is a great deal because you a solitaire-style ornament for a substantially lower price. A particular favourite is also this five-stone cluster you see below, available both as pendant and as earrings, with four marquises arranged in an invisible setting around a princess-cut diamond. The only visible gold is in the four prongs that you see on the edges. The total diamond weight here is 0.36 ct, but together, this looks like a 1 carat round solitaire!
