Fall and Flow - jewellery style guide for Fashion fall 2010

A casual “street” appearance with flowing fabrics in earthy beige, khaki or white is the new look this season, as showcased in the 2010 N.Y Fashion Week. Designers let their hair down, literally and figuratively, in creating these breezy, relaxed looks with long dresses in earth shades, accessorised with minimal, laid back jewellery.

While picking jewellery to match these looks, white gold is a winning choice. Asymmetrical arrangements of gemstones or wavy lines would be a great match with the flowing lines of skirts and long dresses. Diamonds in playful, minimalist arrangements will go well, and to do something truly different, try champagne diamonds, especially to wear with earth colours like browns, beige and Khaki. Blackened prongs add smoky allure to the mellow hue of champagne diamonds (see below).

If you are looking for coloured gemstones to match the fall 2010 style, choose evening colours like yellow and brown, or specific shades of green or blue. For example, you cannot go wrong with citrines and yellow sapphires if you are looking for stones in the yellow/brown family. If you want to go green, pick peridots, because their yellow undertone will match earth colours perfectly. If your dress is closer to white, you can even pick blue topaz or aquamarines for a laid back, summer-encore look.

Chocolate Pearl

Chocolate pearl & champagne diamond earrings in white gold, with blackened prongs, and diamonds on the side. Great for casual party wear. pairs well with Indian or ethnic style dresses in brown, beige or ivory.

Among earrings, go for hoops or long drops, diamonds or gemstones are nice for the former, and citrines and pearls, especially chocolate pearls, will be great for the latter.
