Business styles are often conservative and conventional – more oriented towards the elegant and functional, rather than favourite colours or chunky pieces. The way to make sure you’re the centre of all the corporate attention is to take a two-fold approach – stack up on the tried and tested options but also hide a few surprising choices in your sleeve to jazz up your workday… and workplace! Today, let’s take a look at the usual suspects- what every working women SHOULD have in their collections!

Must-haves on the job…
Pearl

Open up your jewel box. Do you see those big, shiny white? We’re talking about pearls. Pearls are THE classic in the corporate world and a must for any busy working woman. They provide an aura of wealth and success that elude other types of jewellery, and can be worn with a business suit, or a casual business dress. The best part? They stand apart without being too showy.

Apart from pearls, your work ensemble must also carry gold – white and yellow – crafted into delicate pieces that don’t shout out too loud or distract. Understated is the effect to work for at the office, as big earrings, dressy pendants and flirtatious cocktail rings make you come across as playful rather than serious and efficient.

When it comes to earrings, go for studs rather than drop earrings, and if you want them to carry a gemstone – make sure the gemstone is pale – like a diamond or an aquamarine, rather than colourful – like an amethyst or garnet.

Log on to CaratLane.com, and we’ll show you more pieces that will ensure that with every step you take, you’re always in good company!

Watch this space for part II, where we’ll tell you how you can add a twist to your business ensemble!
